I’ve loved entertaining friends since I was little girl; I guess you could say I was a natural born hostess. When I was in my early teens, I’d have all my friends over for sleep overs and cook giant batches of biscuits and gravy or eggs benedict for them in the mornings (my friend Julie still accredits her love of eggs benny to me); when I was in college, I’d invite my girlfriends over for cocktails and appetizers before we’d make our way to the bar scene; now, as an adult approaching her 30’s, I don’t miss the chance to have our friends over for dinner parties or casual get togethers with finger foods and cocktails.

As a seasoned host, I’ve learned a couple of things. 1. Always ALWAYS cook and prepare as much as you can ahead of time. 2. Always have a signature cocktail. Everything else will fall into place as long as you do those two things, I promise. By having a signature cocktail, you’re sure to enjoy spending the majority of your time with guests instead of whipping up individualized cocktails for each person, which is never fun. I’m always looking for new fun ways to make party throwing easier, so when my friends over at POPSUGAR asked if I wanted to try out BACARDI® Mixers to go along with BACARDI®’s Random Acts of Party campaign, I answered with a resounding, uhhh yes! I mean, what better way to find new drink secrets than with the ultimate party planners, BACARDI®.

All of the BACARDI® Mixers can be found in your grocery store’s freezer section with core flavors like Margarita (My personal fave!), Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada. Partytime, Anytime with BACARDI® Mixers is their slogan, and rightfully so, because as long as you have a few of these bad boys in your fridge and a bottle of BACARDI®, you’re good to go for any planned or impromptu party that comes your way.

Now normally, I don’t go the pre-made drink route, but what I love about these, is the BACARDI® Mixer is just the base, the possibilities of drink choices are limitless and YOU control the alcohol content whether you want them virgin, average or slightly potent, as I tend to make my drinks.

Seeing as it’s a million degrees outside, I wanted to go with a cocktail that was light and refreshing – their Cucumberita hit the spot just perfectly. The ingredients are simple and the preparation is a cinch – BACARDI® Mixers Margarita mix, BACARDI SUPERIOR RUM®, Minute Maid® Orange Juice, Ice and freshly chopped cucumbers are pulverized together in a blender, poured into chilled glasses and garnished with cucumber. Just like that you’re ready to serve to multiple guests with little to no effort — of course, that’s counting on the fact that you’ll be able to share…

Be sure to check their website for other recipes, contests and weekly giveaways!

prep, prep, prep!!!!! I couldn’t agree more, when you’re hosting a party the last thing you want to do is spend the whole evening in the kitchen – great advice!!! and this cocktail looks SO refreshing, perfect for summer.
