Have I ever told you how much I adore pickles?
No? Well I do. Not only are they one of my very favorite low-cal foods to snack out, but for me, without a pickle, no burger, bbq sandwich, deviled egg, or uh, eh emmm certain fried chicken sandwich is complete – oftentimes I’m that annoying person that asks for extra pickles, because two measly slices just will not suffice.
When Vlasic® asked me to participate in their Savor the Simplicity Campaign, you bet your bottom dollar I was all in. Have you seen their new line of pickles in your grocery store? Not only are the absolutely delicious (best pickles I’ve ever had), but they are also packaged in adorable mason jars that you can reuse for anything from salad dressings to cocktails and beyond.
Now for a little bit of back-story on these guys. Farmer’s Garden™ by Vlasic® Savor Simplicity Campaign is on a mission is to encourage everyone to enjoy life’s simple foods, flavors and moments. Made with only fresh, locally grown cucumbers and authentic ingredients, Farmer’s Garden wants to remind everyone about the simple things in life that bring us pleasure. Delivered direct from the farm to the pickle aisle at your local store, Farmer’s Garden™ by Vlasic® are hand-packed and offer five varieties of artisanal-quality pickles for anyone who enjoys honest ingredients and a bold fresh taste.
I had the pleasure of tasting all five varieties, and loved every single one of them, but was especially partial to the Zesty Dill Chips, which were tangy, slightly spicy, and irresistibly crunchy – everything I adore in a pickle.
Beyond trying the pickles out, I also got to cook and photograph some of the recipes for the Savor Simplicity website and blog – one of them being this Ground Turkey Bánh Mì sandwich. What I love about this dish (aside from its seriously delicious taste) is it uses the pickles in a sort of unconventional and unique way – and not just in one way at that.
Lean ground turkey is cooked up with onion, green pepper and curry powder, stuffed in a baguette that’s been smothered with sweet chili mayo and then topped off with julienned vegetables that were quickly pickled with the brine from the jar. It’s topped off with a crunchy dill pickle spear, lots of fresh cilantro and some of the pickled veggies from the jar, making for the perfect sweet, tangy, creamy and crunchy bite. I’m not even going to admit to you how many times I had this leftover for dinner…
Also, as part of the Savor Simplicity Campaign, Farmer’s Garden™ by Vlasic® will be offering the Savor Simplicity Sweepstakes, which offers consumers the chance to receive a custom prize pack to help savor life’s simple joys. Enter to win here, and don’t forget to check out the different varieties of pickles and mouth-watering recipes to go along with them!
