Everyone has different ideas of what should be staples in their pantries, freezers, and refrigerators. I’ve listed my staple items below. If you have these items on hand at your house, I will guarantee that you can create a nice home cooked meal at a moments notice, and there’s absolutely no need for a grocery store run.
Pantry Items:
- Olive Oil
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Italian Style Breadcrumbs
- Panko Breadcrumbs
- Variety of Pasta Shapes
- Boxed Chicken Stock
- Canned San Marzano Tomatoes
- Canned Beans (black, kidney, garbanzo)
- Kosher Salt
- Chipotles in Adobo
- Chocolate Chips
- Baking essentials: flour, sugar, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder)
Refrigerator Items:
- Dijon mustard
- Parmigiano Reggiano
- Sirracha
- Soy sauce
- Tomato Paste
- Anchovy Paste
- Unsalted butter
- Eggs
- Garlic
- Onion
- Capers
- Lemon
Freezer Items:
- Chicken breasts
- Italian sausage (I keep sweet, but regular, or hot is great)
- Bacon
- Variety of frozen veggies (corn, peas, spinach)
- Parmigiano Reggiano rinds (for adding flavor to soups, stews, and sauces)
- Leftover chipotles in adobo
I’m sure I’m forgetting a few things, but with these ingredients the meal possibilities are endless. From my pantry to yours 🙂
