Have I told you how much I heart summer?? Well, I do. A lot. Like a lot, a lot. I’m the person that walks outside on a sweltering 98-degree day, stops, takes it in, and smiles to myself. I’m the person that lives at the pool, on a raft, pointing my face towards the sun – well, pre baby. I’m the person that would live in summer dresses and sandals if I could. I’m also the person that loves nothing more, on a hot summer day, than an icy cold beverage – of the dessert variety.
Today, I’m super excited to be “milkshaking” my summer up with Promised Land Milk and Breyers Ice Cream, both of which I used to make this ridiculously delicious, Blueberry Butter Cookie Milkshake.
You may or may not remember, but I made a blueberry cookie gelato a year or so ago, it was a copycat off of one of my favorite gelatos of all time, but it’s a little time intensive, therefore I’ve only made it that one time – and I want it ALL THE TIME. When I was approached about getting creative with your standard milkshake, I signed up without questions, because my mind immediately gravitated towards a more accessible, simple version of my favorite frozen treat.
Plus, milkshakes are kind of a fun way to get the whole family involved. Kev and I love to sit on our patio when it’s hot out, and these guys are the perfect way to enjoy the summer sun, while cooling off a little bit – even little Teddy wanted to get in on the action! I can’t wait until he can actually have one of these bad boys this next summer.
The best part about these, are there are only four simple ingredients –Breyers Natural Ice Cream, Promised Land Milk, fresh blueberries, and butter cookies – but the flavor is unreal.
I’m really picky when it comes to milk and ice cream. My milk cannot have any artificial hormones or antibiotics, and it must be irresistibly creamy and rich – all things Promised Land delivers on. Their milk is creamier and richer than other milks, because it comes from pampered (yes, I said PAMPERED), Jersey Cows, which, funnily enough, aren’t actually from New Jersey – they’re from the Channel Island off the Jersey coast of France, fancy huh? The cows, being fancy and all, produce naturally higher protein and calcium counts, further facilitating in its perfectly creamy and rich state.
Obviously if I don’t like consuming milk that has any artificial ingredients, naturally, I wouldn’t tolerate in my ice cream either. Breyers Natural Vanilla is made with only the simplest of ingreidents – cream, sugar, milk, and vanilla beans – and is SO creamy and sweet (but not overly so!).
I use a blender to puree the blueberries into the milk, and then mix the ice cream and blueberry milk mixture by hand until everything is combined. At the last minute a cup or so of crushed butter cookies (you could also use shortbread) are mixed in, and this thing is ready to be devoured. Just don’t forget a straw…
If you comment on the post below and enter the rafflecopter, on how your family “milkshakes” up summer, you can win a $25 gift card to Kroger! Also, be sure to head to your local Kroger to pick up Promised Land Milk and Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream so you can make your own!

We would make some yummy milkshakes this summer and spend time outside in the yard relaxing and playing. Our favorite milkshakes are chocolate peanut butter and banana.

We love to try different combos. Mixed berries. Chocolate peanut butter. Banana caramel. So many options! We also love whipped topping and chopped nuts on top!
